Review: Dada Moroccan
12:41
Last Saturday my boyfriend and I decided to go to a
Japanese film in town followed by sushi and drinks (because we like to think we
are quirky and fun). Unfortunately the film was sold out and the sushi was all
booked up.. cool. Lack of organisation strikes again! Although this was highly
annoying at the time it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we strolled
past Dada on South Williams Street starving and chanced our arm for a table on
a busy Saturday night! Success! We were in, as long as we were back out by 9 o
clock, challenge accepted!
The decor was absolutely gorgeous. Bronze and gold
dominated the colour scheme of the dimly lit room. The tables were etched
golden metal, the room was divided by a large bronze metal fence, and hanging
from the ceiling were small bronze lanterns decorating the clay coloured walls
with bright speckles of light. Iv never been to Morocco but that is exactly how
I imagine traditional Moroccan interior design to look like.
We were so lucky to get a table on a Saturday night
here, the food was unbelievable and with the added bonus of being BYOB i'm
absolutely hooked! To start we shared a medley of Moroccan dips with bread
(pictured below). The dips were so tasty and so filling, served in the
cutest, most vibrant coloured, little bowls (I wish my phone took a better
photo!). Yogurt, green bean, read bean, and houmous sprinkled with paprika!
For mains we had Tajin, North African stew cooked in a
large clay pot. They came out to the table still in their clay pots, the presentation
was beautiful! Mine was vegetarian (obviously), pumpkin, carrot and marinated
lentils, served with bread ( but we got cous cous as a side). His also looked
amazing, beef tajin with apricots and cinnamon. It was such a hearty meal we
were so stuffed we couldn’t even look at the desert menu. I would definitely
come back again, so filling and such a unique atmosphere and décor. Next time
I’ll book ahead and set up with more wine for a longer dining experience.
