Vegetarian Dumplings
03:42
I found my favorite shop ever, it was an absolute treasure trove! It had so many items iv never seen before, like a jar of salted jellyfish or giant spiky Durian fruit, and so many I thought id never see again, like my old holiday friend Chang Beer. Hidden away on Drury Street you'll find Asian Market, the best shop in the world. It has all your Asian cooking necessities at half the price of your usual super market. Its hard not to go a little nuts in there, we picked up steaming baskets, dumpling paper, seaweed nori, bamboo rolling mats, green tea, and of course, that scary Durian amongst other things. High on our adventure we came home eager to try out our new baskets!
I present to you Veggie Dumplings!!
Ingredients:
- 1 red pepper
- 60gs cabbage
- 4 mushrooms
- 1 carrot (grated)
- Garlic clove (crushed)
- Sprinkle of corriander
- Drizzle of sesame oil and soy sauce
- About 30 sheets of dumpling pastry (we found them in the asian market along with the baskets!!)

Recipe:
1. Chop up all of the ingreadiants really really finely and mix.
2. Mix in soy sauce and sesame oil.
3. Place half a tsp of mixture in the middle of the pastry.
4. Wet the sides with water and seal by folding over and pinching into crescent moons.
5. Spray the sides of the basket with vegetable oil spray (so they don't stick). Place over a sauce pan filled with an inch of boiling water, allow water to boil (creates the steam)
6. Place into bamboo basket, don't let them touch! (you'll get about 6/7 in one basket)
7. Steam for 10 minutes, or until they look like the first picture! (don't forget to put the lid on!)
We decided to make dinner for 5 people with only one basket... not our best call. If you're cooking for more than two people invest in a second basket, or be prepared to wait a while to get full! This looks like it was a lot of effort, but it was ready in no time at all and it was so much fun!
