Review: Taco Taco pop up

14:31

Food glorious food! Taco Taco is a new trendy pop up taking residence in Odessa, 14 dame court, Dublin 2. I really hope this little guy finds a permanent home because the food is unreal! The menu has so much to offer. Obviously tacos are the main attraction here but they have nachos, prawns, salmon, chicken, and burgers... Something for everyone!

The atmosphere is very trendy; the waiters are in casual/hip clothes, the walls are covered in hashtags and chalk markers, and the music is pumping! It's as if your cool friend started a taco speak easy, really young and fresh. This place is an absolute must! I wouldn't come here on a first date though, the music is so loud myself and my friend were yelling at each other (although that could have been up to the margaritas!), more of a friends catch up spot.

She had coca cola pulled pork which sounded amazing, but I think the real winner here was my chargrilled halloumi soft tacos. Houmous, beetroot slaw, lettus, cashews, orange and chilli salsa, all covering big chunks of salty halloumi.. It was absolutely delicious and ridiculously filling. We really had eyes bigger than our stomachs when we ordered our sides as well. Sweet potato fries with sumac, chilli and pomegranate, guac and nachos and a side of chipotle and garlic sauce.. Oh my sweet mother devine.. Food coma.

The service was fantastic. I ordered the poutine fries (go canada!) without the bacon to make them veggie friendly, and I guess the waitress realised I must be vegetarian, because she came straight back to tell me the sauce wasn't veggie either... devastating. This was so thoughtful of her. If it were me I probably wouldn't have even thought to ask about the sauce especially when the place is that busy!

I couldn't even look at the desserts because I was so full... job well done Taco Taco! The damage wasn't so bad, 60e for the two of us, considering what we got; two taco dinners, 4 sides, and two cocktails. The tacos were enough really, I'd recommend splitting the fries and getting either guac or chipotle (I really recommend the chipotle for dipping and drenching your tacos, it's that good!)
I'd definitely come back again. Mexican is always a winner for veggies because there's so much to choose from and they're all bursting with vivid colours and flavours!

I recommend getting down there fast though. It is only a pop up so it might not be around for much longer! You're guaranteed a really fun night here, expect dancing in your chair, yelling across the table, stuffing your face and guzzling margaritas!
