Who? What? Where?

Hi, my name's Anna, and i'm a vegetarian.

It’s been about 7 years now since I made the decision to go cold Tofurkey (lol). Everyone has their own reasons to give up the good stuff, mine being my love of animals. That being said I love the taste of meat, I often dream of devouring Mc Donald’s burgers and inhaling stacks of ribs... it's been a long seven years. When I was younger my mother made dinner for me comprised mostly of vegetables cooked as a side to the rest of the family's dinner. One night, after a very mouth watering conversation with my sister (veggie number 2 in the house), we came to the conclusion we were sick of eating roast potatoes, boiled carrots and boiled broccoli. The fact that my mom said we were old enough to cook for ourselves and that she was leaving us to our own devices was purely coincidental! I decided to take the plunge and man the frying pan, searching for recipes that not only taste great but require very little effort!

A heads up on this blog… I’m not claiming any working knowledge of cooking or baking, in fact i'm not wrong in saying i'm pretty much a train wreck in the kitchen. This is more like a live learning journal, which I hope, inspires other novice vegetations to take the leap from family black sheep living off side dishes to proud and happy herbivores. Occasionally i'll also review restaurants around Dublin (provided my family invite me out) and rate their veggie options. A quick google search will pull up restaurants that are either fully vegetarian (not great for the meat loving family members) or restaurants that have one, not very adventurous, veggie option. I hope to widen the scope, and look for something other then mushroom risotto… I swear if I eat it one more time I’m going to explode! (follow my Instagram @lazy_vegetarian for places to eat around dublin)

* Full disclosure… I’m a bad vegetarian, lazy some may say. I operate on a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ basis. If it doesn’t look like meat or fish then it’s a winner! I can't tell you how many soups have been ruined for me because of chicken or beef stock.. if it says its vegetable soup, its vegetarian! OK?! Don’t even get me started on my rocky love affair with Mc Donald’s chips. Don’t make that face at me! Can you honestly say you’d pass up home made cooking because it has non-vegetarian cheese in it? Well, if you have that kind of will power, this is not the place for you… there will be a lot of looking the other way going on here, you’ve been warned!

Ok, enough about me... lets get cooking!
